I’ve loved music since I was a young boy. I was fascinated with records and how they worked. I remember asking my Dad, why the record didn’t skip when he hit a big bump, while we were driving in the car. He gave me a bewildered look and then taught me the difference between a record player and a radio in the car. My mind was blown, as I thought all music came from records and record players. Needless to say, I had a lot to learn and with that basic knowledge, I set out to learn about all of the different ways that you could find and listen to music. This was the early 70’s, so I had a lot to choose from. Records, radio, and 8-track tapes were my playground. Cassettes and CDs had not come on the scene just yet and there was obviously no digital music just yet. I started collecting vinyl records when I was 10 years old and at the age of 56, I’m still collecting vinyl records! My collection grew quickly and survived multiple moves as I got older. I got to a point where I wanted to start going through my collection and quickly realized I had many doubles of great albums. I decided to start listing records on Discogs and found that the record community was in need of my records, as vinyl records were in a growth period, after years of taking a backseat to CDs and digital music. I started to find homes for great records and customers really appreciated a nicely kept record. I started to build a nice little customer base and some repeat customers, so I figured I might be on to something. I then started to purchase some collections of records and was fascinated by the stories behind the collections. Who owned them? Why were they selling them? I started to ask these questions to people I was buying records from. I got some incredible answers and learned about incredible people and why/how they collected over their lifetimes. Some were sold to me by children of a deceased parent who collected for over 50 years and lived on multiple continents. Following the records and their migration was fascinating and something that I really enjoyed! I love to see my records go to people who really want to consume and collect them!Â
Out of all of this, Ripple Records, Gifts & More was born! I also found that art walks hand in hand with music. Just look at album covers and concert posters! There is quote by Noel Gallagher states “vinyl is the poor man’s art collectionâ€. There are some incredibly iconic album cover artwork and wonderful concert tour posters, many of which adorn my walls and bring me great joy. I wanted to be able to spread that joy to potential customers, who also love this type of media. Ripple is not stopping with vinyl. We’re also putting cassettes, CDs, books, and local artists’ work (art, gifts, signs, stickers, etc.) on our site as well, so that our customers have a full range of items to choose from! Welcome to our site and we hope you find items that bring you joy and help you enjoy the music that is the backdrop of your life! Our motto at Ripple is Happy Listening! We hope to help you on your journey to the joy that comes with Happy Listening!Â
